  Energy Management
Roche Carolina Inc. maintains a philosophy of eco-efficiency and sustainable development. In April of 2000, we implemented an energy conservation program in order to reduce the amount of electricity and natural gas purchased. The energy conservation projects include: controlling comfort air as outlined under ASHRAE Standard 55 requirements, conducting building-specific illumination surveys and modifying as appropriate as well as optimizing the use and timing of various operating equipment (pumps, blowers, etc.). Additional projects consist of reviewing equipment design to ensure process equipment is sized to match actual demand and, finally, educating site personnel regarding the efficient use of office and conference room lighting, computers, printers, etc. These projects collectively resulted in a 13% reduction in electrical and natural gas consumption.
